Horseheads Baseball Ready For State Final Four

Blue Raiders set for Massapequa

HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (18 SPORTS) - The Blue Raiders will face a familiar foe in the Class AA state final four.

Horseheads (19-3) will battle Massapequa (20-6) on Friday at 2 pm at Union-Endicott high school. The Blue Raiders got off the regional slide, a game they lost three straight times, beating Kingston 7-2 last Saturday.

Massapequa has now won 15 games in a row which includes a 7-1 win over West Islip in regionals. These two teams are very familiar with each other over the years. Horseheads and Massapequa battled in both 9/10 Little League All-Stars and 11/12 All-Stars, with a majority of the same players on their high school teams today.

If Horseheads can emerge victorious, they will advance to the state finals Saturday at 1 pm at Binghamton University. The winner of Horseheads and Massapequa will face the winner of Victor and Baldwinsville in the championship.

Horseheads last won a state title in 1999, this marks the first time the Blue Raiders have been this close to the finals in nearly 20 years. 18 Sports previews Friday's game and we take a look at how this team feels going into the state Final Four.
