Mansfield to Reveal New NYCBL Franchise Tuesday

Mounties to host new team

MANSFIELD, Pa. (18 SPORTS) - The New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL) is bulking up their league starting next week.

Come Tuesday, Shaute Field at Mansfield University will become the home for both the Mansfield University Mountaineers, and the soon-to-be-named Mansfield NYCBL franchise, which will be owned by former Elmira Pioneers front office man, Don Lewis.

A press conference will be held at Shaute Field rain or shine, on Tuesday, August 14th at 1 pm, where the new team name and logo will be unveiled, and the head coach will also be announced.

The new franchise will be the 12th team introduced into the league.  The season will consist of 42 regular season games with homes games beginning at 5:30 pm. Mansfield will also play the likes of fellow NYCBL team, the Hornell Dodgers, who won league championship just two seasons ago.

Tune in to 18 Sports on Tuesday for coverage from the press conference unveiling the new NYCBL team coming to Mansfield.
