Mansfield women's basketball falls to the Mountain Cats in double overtime 98-93

MANSFIELD, P.A. (18 SPORTS) - The Mansfield University men's and women's basketball teams both lost at home to Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday at Decker Gym.

The Mansfield women lost to the Mountain Cats in double overtime 98-93.

Kira Merritt scored a basket on a drive to the hoop for Mansfield to tie it late in overtime and send the game to double-overtime.

Erin Gibbons scored a team-high 20 points for Mansfield.

Gabrielle Smith scored a game high 37 points for the Mountain Cats.

The Mansfield men's basketball team lost to Pitt-Johnstown 85-70.

Josh Wise had a game-high 23 points for UPJ.

Taylor Sweeney scored a team-high 19 points for the Mountaineers while Nysir Marshburn added 18 points and Elmira grad Tyler Moffe scored 13 points for Mansfield.

The Mountaineers host Gannon in a doubleheader at Decker Gym on Sunday beginning with the women's game at 1:00 pm.
