A former baseball great has a key role in a holiday film coming to Elmira Heights.
Kenny Lofton, a six-time Major League Baseball All-Star and four-time Gold Glove winner, is now in the film industry after a storied playing career. Lofton was a producer on the 2015 film “My First Miracle” and the movie will be showcased for free on Wednesday, December 12th at 7 PM at The Heights Theater. Doors will open at 6:30 PM and fans can attend for free with a non-perishable food item that will be donated to Catholic Charities for those in need this holiday season.
Two natives of the Twin Tiers, Charlie and Tammy Berch, are extras in the film and are proud to have the movie shown in their hometown. The film tells a compelling story of one young girl’s battle with cancer and how she is on a quest to find lifelong happiness despite her condition. It’s an account of family and togetherness for the holiday season.
Lofton takes a few moments with 18 Sports to discuss the impact of the film on all viewers past and present. Plus, Lofton reflects on his favorite memories of the Cleveland Indians during has prime run in the 1990’s.
