Notre Dame Soccer Rolls to Victory

Crusaders crush Union Springs

SOUTHPORT, N.Y. (18 SPORTS) - The Elmira Notre Dame boys soccer team started their 2017 season sharp.

After building a big halftime edge, Notre Dame blew out visiting Union Springs 8-0 in Southport on Wednesday night. Gavin Harrington scored three goals and had two assists, while Mitchell Vargas scored twice and recorded five assists for Notre Dame (1-0).

The win also marked the first for first-year head coach Kostas Varkostas, who takes over the program after longtime leader Brian Adams stepped down. Notre Dame won a New York State Class C title in 2015, with plenty of firepower back, the Crusaders have their eyes set on a deep playoff run. Check out the complete highlights from Wednesday.
