A local minor league baseball talent faces another setback.
Sam Lewis, a Horseheads native and minor league veteran of seven seasons, has been placed on the seven-day disabled list at pitcher. The big right-hander had shoulder soreness and team trainers believed that necessary rest was ideal for Lewis.
This year, Lewis has made eight starts for the Jackson Generals, the Class AA affiliate team of the Arizona Diamondbacks in Tennessee. Overall, Lewis has racked up a (2-3) record with 42 strikeouts in just over 40 innings of work on the mound.
In ten total games, Lewis has a solid 2.23 ERA. The 27-year-old Lewis signed a one-year deal with the Diamondbacks earlier this year. Stick with 18 Sports for further developments on Lewis career.
