Waverly softball prepares for states

The Waverly softball team has made program history this season.

The Wolverines won their first-ever Section IV Class B title on Saturday with a 2-1 win over top-seeded Susquehanna Valley at BAGSAI Softball Complex in Binghamton.

Wendi Hammond hit a home run and struck out 14 batters for the Wolverines.

Waverly will now look to make a run at a state title beginning on Friday against Oneida in the Class B state quarterfinals in East Syracuse at 5:30 p.m.
