BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (18 SPORTS) - The Thomas A. Edison Spartans softball team defeated the Notre Dame Crusaders 1-0 to win a Section IV Class C title on Saturday at BAGSAI Complex in Binghamton.
Bella Willsey had a big day on both sides of the plate for the Spartans.
Willsey scored the only run of the game by hitting a home run and she threw a one-hitter and had 16 strikeouts on the mound.
Chloe Stemmerman had the lone hit of the game for Notre Dame with a double in the sixth inning.
The Crusaders were trying to win their fourth straight Section IV Class C title.
The Spartans win their first sectional title since 2014, when they went onto win a Class C state title.
