Watkins Glen International will recognize the newly crowned Little League World Series champion Maine-Endwell baseball team on Sunday, Sept. 4 at the INDYCAR Grand Prix at The Glen, with players and coaches set to serve as Grand Marshals during pre-race ceremonies.
Maine-Endwell won the 2016 Little League World Series by defeating International Champion South Korea, 2-1, capping off an incredible undefeated (24-0) season.
Maine-Endwell the first New York team to win the overall title since 1964.
“We are so proud of Maine-Endwell for their performance, both on the field and off, all season and in Williamsport,” said Watkins Glen International President Michael Printup. “Our team is thrilled to have the opportunity to host the World Champions of Little League Baseball and their families while introducing them to some of the best racing in the world, right here in Watkins Glen.”
INDYCAR returns to Watkins Glen International this Labor Day weekend with Indy Lights presented by Cooper Tires on Saturday, Sept. 3 and the stars and cars of the Verizon IndyCar Series in the INDYCAR Grand Prix at The Glen on Sunday, Sept. 4.
This marks the first INDYCAR race since 2010 at Watkins Glen.
