Mansfield swept in doubleheader against UPJ


The Mansfield University softball team lost both games of a doubleheader at home against Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday at Helen Lutes Field.

UPJ won game one 4-2.

Horseheads grad Lacey O’Donnell hit an RBI double down the left field line for the Mountaineers in the fifth inning to tie the game at two.

O’Donnell went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Mountaineers in game one.

Jade Stubblefield hit a go-ahead RBI single to left in the seventh inning to put UPJ in front 3-2.

The Mountain Cats won game two 11-1 in five innings to complete the sweep.

Olivia Porter hit a three-run home run for UPJ in the fifth inning to put the Mountain Cats up 11-1.

Mansfield (9-9) is on the road against Clarion on Sunday in a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
