Mansfield U. Sprint Football Defeated by Penn in Season Opener

The Mansfield University Mountaineers sprint football team lost to Penn 54-21 in their season opener at  Karl Van Norman Field in Mansfield on Saturday.

Wellsboro grad Quinn Henry returned the opening kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown to give Mansfield an early 6-0 lead.

Down 7-6 in the first quarter,  Adam Hutchison connected with Saville Pope on a 81-yard touchdown pass to put the Mountaineers in front 12-7.

Penn would regain the lead on a 58-yard touchdown pass by Eddie Jenkins to Aidan Kelly.

Jenkins threw for 240 yards and five touchdowns for Penn.

Mansfield University is on the road against Chestnut Hill College on Friday at 7:00 pm.
