For the second straight season, Mike Weaver gets another postseason accolade.
After earning first team honors last year, the redshirt senior kicker was selected to the All-ACC second team after a banner year. Weaver made 19-of-22 field goals on the year and has helped the Demon Deacons (7-5) reach the postseason for a second consecutive season. Wake Forest awaits their bowl fate later this week, with a potential game in the Belk Bowl or Military Bowl at the end of December.
Weaver is second all-time in school history in points with 314. Wake Forest alum Sam Swank is first all-time with 337 career points. Swank had opportunities in the NFL as a free agent, playing for four different teams from 2009 to 2012.
Earlier this month, Weaver made a big splash in his return to upstate New York. In Syracuse, Mike connected on three field goals and had 16 points in Wake Forest’s 64-43 win at The Carrier Dome. Mike now has 102 points on the season, the first year he has surpassed the 100 point mark at Wake Forest in his storied career. Weaver is tied with last year’s Heisman Trophy winner, Lamar Jackson of Louisville, for second in the ACC in scoring.
