Mike Weaver earns NAL Special Teams top player

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – Mike Weaver’s big week continues.

After setting a franchise-best field goal mark of 60-yards and going a perfect eight-for-eight on extra points, Weaver has been named the National Arena League (NAL) Special Teams Player of The Week.

Weaver’s big kick propelled the Massachusetts Pirates (7-4) to a 54-52 win as time expired last Friday night, giving the team its second consecutive NAL playoff appearance.

Mike has been enjoying a great first-year with the Pirates in the NAL. Already, Weaver’s 3-for-6 on field goals, plus, 39-of-48 on extra points. Weaver currently leads the league in points per game with nine.

The two-time All-ACC selection out of Wake Forest was listed as a top undrafted free agent on following his senior year and was a Lou Groza Watch List player.

Weaver continues to fight and chase his football dreams.

The Pirates will next host the top team in the NAL, Jacksonville (10-1), at 7 pm next Saturday in Worchester. The game can be watched live on the National Arena League YouTube channel.
