The Syracuse women’s basketball team took home their third win against a ranked opponent this year.
They beat number 10 Florida State 83-73 Thursday night.
Brianna Butler gave Syracuse a 10-point advantage over the Seminoles in the first quarter and scored 16 points for the Orange.
The Seminoles tied the game up at 31, but a 3-point field goal from senior guard Maggie Morrison helped Syracuse to regain the lead
The Seminoles were able to pull within three, but the Orange did not relinquish their lead.
Alexis Peterson paced the Orange with 17 points on the night. Four Orange joined Peterson in scoring 15 or more points on the night including Butler (16), Brittney Sykes (15), and senior forward Taylor Ford (15).
Ford shot 5-for-7 from 3-point range.
Adut Bulgak and Shakayla Thomas scored 23 and 19 points for the Seminoles, respectively.
The win bring’s Syracuse’s record to 21-6 overall. Florida State is 21-5 overall.
Syracuse will finish its regular season on the road, playing its last two games at Pittsburgh on Sunday, Feb. 21 at 3 p.m. and at Boston College on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m.
