A local baseball talent will take the next step of his baseball career this season.
Sam Lewis, a minor league prospect for the Arizona Diamondbacks, will test free agency next season after two years in their farm system. Lewis will now embark on a new journey at pitcher either in relief or in a starting role.
In seven full seasons in the minor leagues, Lewis has a 22-16 overall record and has 265 strikeouts with time out of the bullpen and a starter. Lewis, a Horseheads graduate, made it all the way to Class AA ball for the Jackson Generals before battling injuries this past season in Tennessee.
