The Syracuse Orange started ACC play with a 68-56 win over Virginia Tech inside the Carrier Dome on Sunday night.
Oshae Brissett led the Orange with 19 points including 9-10 from the free throw line. Three other SU players scored in double figures including Tyus Battle and Frank Howard with 17 points each and Matthew Moyer with 11 points, as well as 13 rebounds for his first career double double.
It was a one point game in the first half at 17-16 with 7:49 to play before Syracuse ended the half on a 15-3 run to lead 32-19 at the break.
In the second half, Virginia Tech started strong cutting the SU lead to three at 34-31. But the Orange responded with an 11-0 run to go ahead 45-31. The game was only as close as 11 the rest of the way.
Syracuse takes on Wake Forest for its first road ACC game Wednesday at 7pm on Wednesday, Jan. 3.
