The Top 5 Jackals Moments in Franchise History: #3 Craig Rivet

All week, 18 Sports continues the countdown of the Top 5 Elmira Jackals moments of all-time, tonight it’s number three.

In 2011, former Buffalo Sabres captain and NHL veteran Craig Rivet signs with the Jackals. Rivet, just months removed from the NHL, joined the team and served as a player/coach guiding the Jackals to its best season in ECHL history. Elmira won a franchise high (45) games, the most in their ECHL run, under Rivet and coach Pat Bingham.

Rivet played in over 900 career games in the NHL, but played just one season in Elmira. In 61 games for the Jackals, Rivet scored five goals and tallied 19 assists. His signing with Elmira made national headlines and it served as one of the hallmark moments in franchise history.

18 Sports pays tribute to Craig Rivet and moment number three on three on the countdown. The final top moments in Jackals history will be revealed Thursday and Friday night.
