Girls soccer IAC Championship game canceled

SOUTHPORT, N.Y. (WETM) - The Elmira Notre Dame girls soccer team will not get a chance to play for an IAC Championship this season.

Notre Dame was supposed to host Dryden at noon on Saturday in the IAC Large School Championship game but the game was canceled early Saturday morning. The Crusaders were notified that a team had players that had to be put into quarantine, resulting in the game being canceled.

Enforcers clinch spot in Ignite Cup Final & Friday scoreboard

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) - The Elmira Enforcers may have lost at home on Friday night but they picked up a much needed point.

The Enforcers lost to the Carolina Thunderbirds in overtime 7-6 in game one of a three-game series at First Arena this weekend that wraps up the regular season. Tommy Tsicos scored the game-winner in overtime for Carolina. Ryan Marker scored a goal and had three assists for Elmira. Game two of the series is Saturday at 7:05 p.m.

Corning’s Kelly DuPree signs to play lacrosse at Manhattan

CORNING, N.Y. (WETM) - Corning attackman/midfielder, Kelly DuPree will play college lacrosse at the Division I level.

DuPree signed his national letter of intent to play college lacrosse for Manhattan on Friday in the C-PP High School cafeteria. The senior has spent three seasons on the Hawks varsity lacrosse team, including winning a Section IV title in 2019. DuPree has played travel lacrosse with the Gaffer Elite travel team since 5th grade and is looking forward to continuing his career at the Division I level. " It's always been a part of my life so it's pretty exciting," said DuPree.
