Two of the Elmira Pioneers’ top players were named as high prospects on an elite list.
In a recent release by the Baseball America Blog on the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL), Elmira pitcher Houston Roth and infielder Brett Rodriguez were named top prospects for the entire league after having great seasons. Roth, who will be a sophomore pitcher for Ole Miss next season, was a first team PGCBL selection and struck out a league record 20 batters in one game in 2017.
Rodriguez continued his ascension in the game and emerged as one of the Pioneers top hitters this season. Entering his sophomore season at Wofford, Rodriguez batted .306 and had one home run to go along with 17 RBI. Rodriguez added 12 doubles at the plate for the Pioneers this past season.
