It was opening weekend for Watkins Glen International.
Car enthusiasts of all ages came out to enjoy the first day racing on the track.
Many motorists brought out vintage models to take for a ride. A 1965 replica of a 1965 Shelby Cobra was ready to hit the laps.
“This had over six-hundred thousand miles on it,” Ralph Button.
To Button, his 1965 replica is close ot his heart. “It’s family,” said Button. “This has over six-hundred thousand miles on it,” he added.
Thomas Radord of Horseheads also brought somehting vintage to the track. He drove in with a 1930 two-door Buick.
“This is all wooden frames, it’s wrapped in metal,” said Radford.” You are looking at a 1930’s Buick Classic. Three-fifty motor. Automatic transmission,” added Radford.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit WGI’s race foundation which supports local community organizations.
