
Matt Seybold is Assistant Professor of American Literature & Mark Twain Studies at Elmira College, as well as resident scholar at the Center for Mark Twain Studies and editor of MarkTwainStudies.org. He is also co-editor of The Routledge Companion to Literature & Economics, published in 2018. His writings on the intersection of political economy, mass media, and literary culture have appeared in Los Angeles Review of Books, Aeon Magazine, and numerous academic journals, and have been cited by The Atlantic, Bloomberg View, Financial Times, and Politico. Like Mark Twain, Dr. Seybold has made a lifelong study of America’s cultural and geographical diversity. He was raised in Indiana, went to college at Washington University in St. Louis, received his Ph.D. from University of California – Irvine, and had his first academic appointment at University of Alabama, before coming to Elmira.
