Former baseball star David Ortiz made a triumphant return to Fenway park Monday night.
In his first public appearance since being wounded by gunfire in the Dominican Republic back in June, the man known as “Big Papi” threw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Boston Red Sox hosted the New York Yankees.
Ortiz gave thanks to the fans and members of both teams for reaching out to him.
The retired three-time world series champion was released from Massachusetts general hospital back on July 29th following three surgeries due to complications from the gunshot wounds.
Doctors expect Ortiz to make a full recovery.
