AVERAGE HIGH FOR MAY 31ST: 74°
AVERAGE LOW FOR MAY 31ST: 48°
FRIDAY SUNRISE: 5:34 AM
FRIDAY SUNSET: 8:36 PM
A weak area of high pressure keeps us dry for Friday night. Mostly clear to partly cloudy skies with patchy valley fog possible late. Temperatures drop to near 50 degrees for overnight lows.
Next frontal system making an impact for the weekend. Increasing clouds for Saturday morning with a passing shower possible. Best timing for showers and thunderstorms being Saturday afternoon and evening as a weak front moves across the region. Some instability present and the Storm Prediction Center keeps the Twin Tiers in a Marginal Risk (1 out of 5, 5 being the highest) for strong to severe thunderstorm development. The biggest concern is the potential for heavy rainfall, especially when taking into consideration a decent amount of rainfall over the last few days. Warm and humid for Saturday with highs near 80 degrees and dew points near 60 degrees. Chance for rainfall lingers through Saturday night and lows in the mid to upper 50s.
Keeping the chance for showers and a few thunderstorms Sunday as a cold front passes the region. Highs for Sunday in the low to mid 70s. Cooler and drier air works into the region for early next week. Highs Monday and Tuesday into the 60s.
