Town of Vernon residents express concerns over Woodstock 50 being held in their backyards

VERNON, N.Y. (WUTR) A town hall meeting in Vernon Monday night had an agitated atmosphere as representatives of the group who propose to bring Woodstock 50 to Vernon Downs brought their plans to the public.

The meeting also included officials from the Town, Oneida County Emergency Services, Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol and officials from the New York State Police.

Several questions on logistics went unanswered. Perhaps the biggest of those unanswered questions being; since there are no plans for camping at the site, and they are planning on a maximum of 65,000 concert-goers, where would they go at the end of the first two nights of the festival?

The town’s attorney said the town does have a hand on the permitting process if New York State grants a sanitary permit to Woodstock 50.

The attorney added the town will review municipal law before granting Woodstock 50 organizers an operating permit for the event.
