Forecast Discussion 4/12/18 AM: Warmer end to the week with storm chances

Weather

AVERAGE HIGH FOR APRIL 12TH: 56°

AVERAGE LOW FOR APRIL 12TH: 32°

FRIDAY SUNRISE: 6:32 AM

FRIDAY SUNSET: 7:45 PM

Warm air continues to move in for Friday, but we also are dealing with mostly cloudy skies as a system is on move, tracking to our north. Southerly flow will kick in once again which may be gusty at times. Winds 10-20 mph with gusts 25+ mph into the afternoon. This will allow temperatures today to top off in the mid to upper 60s. The cold front associated with this system will help to produce showers and even a rumble of thunder late this afternoon and into this evening. Lows near the upper 40s. Best possibility to see a shower or heavier downpour will be after 3-4 pm. Rainfall totals between a quarter and half an inch with locally higher amounts in any heavy downpours or thunderstorms.

We look to dry out Saturday with partly sunny skies. Winds continue out of the south, once again gusty at times but this will allow for warmer temperatures to keep their hold on the Twin Tiers. Highs Saturday near 70 degrees. We then track another rainfall maker for Sunday into Monday. This currently looks like a stronger system that will bring the chance for heavy rain at times and rainfall totals 1-2″ possible. This could cause the issue of isolated creeks and streams rising to dangerous levels – something we will continue to monitor.

Have a great weekend everyone – Saturday is looking like the pick day for any outdoor activities!
