The Storm Prediction Center keeps the Southern Tier in a “Slight Risk” while most of the Northern Tier is in an “Enhanced Risk” for severe weather Sunday night. A cold front pushing through the region brings a line of strong to severe showers and thunderstorms to the Twin Tiers. Best timing for this line is between 11 pm Sunday night to 3 am Monday morning, but spotty showers and thunderstorms possible before then. Biggest severe weather risk is 60 mph wind gusts or higher but hail, isolated tornadoes, and localized flash flooding are also possible. Rainfall amounts around 1″ or less through the night, so keeping an eye on water levels, especially in poor drainage areas. Temperatures near 50 degrees by early Monday morning.
As the cold front passes, strong northwest winds will drop our temperatures Monday morning and afternoon. Winds 10-20 mph with gusts over 35 mph possible for the afternoon. Lingering rainfall mixes with and turns to light snowfall into the evening. Drying out Monday night with clearing skies into early Tuesday. Increasing cloud cover through Tuesday with a chance for late day showers. Highs Tuesday in the mid to upper 50s. Another warming trend this week with highs by Thursday and Friday close to 70 degrees, which is above average for this time of the year. Chance for showers continues through the week and thunderstorms also possible again Friday.
