ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM-TV) -

AVERAGE HIGH FOR AUGUST 15TH: 81°

AVERAGE LOW FOR AUGUST 15TH: 56°

WEDNESDAY SUNRISE: 6:15 AM

WEDNESDAY SUNSET: 8:08 PM

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the Twin Tiers through Tuesday evening. Low pressure continuing to make an impact Tuesday night with lingering showers and isolated thunderstorms. Activity winding down after dark, with an additional 0.50" or less of rainfall possible for the evening and overnight. Foggy conditions continue overnight, and temperatures cool into the low 60s.

Ridging over the region Wednesday provides some relief from the wet weather. Still, a weak disturbance combined with afternoon heating may trigger an isolated shower or thunderstorm. Otherwise, a mainly dry day with mostly to partly sunny skies. Warmer for temperatures with highs in the low to mid 80s. Feeling the humidity as dew points reach into the mid to upper 70s. Quiet weather Wednesday night with lows in the low to mid 60s.

Next frontal system moves in for the end of the work week, increasing our chances for showers and thunderstorms late day Thursday into Friday. Multiple fronts moving through, and depending on timing, that will play a big role in how much and how intense the rainfall will be. Highs Thursday and Friday in the low 80s. While a shower or thunderstorm can't be completely ruled out Saturday and Sunday, we are looking at a mainly dry weekend ahead. Highs this weekend near 80 degrees.
